The Awareness & Attitude toward Occupational Health of the Employers and Workers in Small Scale Industry


Abstract
This study is designed to investigate the awareness & attitude of employers & workers in small scale industries, to wake a recommendation for improvement of industrial health management of small scale industries in work.
Information on general characteristics of the employers & workers, and their awareness & attitude toward occupational health were obtained by self recording questionnaire from 129 employers and 381 workers in 263 small scale industries from July to Aug, 11994.
Data was analyzed by SAS package program.
The results were as follows :
1. The most frequent type of industry was manufacturing(92%) and the industries less than 20 workers occupied 67% of all.
2. The employers recognized heavy metal & specific chemical as the most harmful factor but harmful gas & ¢¥heavy metal for the workers.
3. The workers acknowledged the occupational disease could occurrence more often than the employers. All the employers & workers regarded the health consciousness & knowledge as the most important factor for the prevention of occupational disease.
4. There was a signifcant difference in the awareness & attitude about health & environmental examination between employers & workers,
In conclusion, proper education on industrial health problems and protective measure of work-related diseases to the employers and workers must be reinforced.
